Smooth like chocolate, Mustang are the latest Belgian delicacies to tickle our palates.
Despite their polished sound, Renaud Deru and Andy Faisca have only been working together since 2009, although Renaud has been around on the Belgian scene both as co-owner of Belgium’s Dirty Dancing Club, and as DJ Cosy Mozzy since 2000. Mustang have a residency at Belguim’s very new, très chic Libertine Supersport, also a venture of Renaud’s.
They list italo disco, early house and classic pop as influential musical styles, which becomes apparent in their productions and overlays their rockier choice of remixes, including Vitalic and Ghinzu. Their first EP Chamelion Circus was released on Germany’s mighty Gomma on 5 February, and they join Who Made Who, and The Phenomenal Handclap Band there.
They’re currently in the studio working on EP number two, and you can catch them playing a monumental Gomma label night at Paris’s Social Club with Moullinex, Telonius and Munk on 5 June.
They’ve kindly uploaded a second April mix, and I highly recommend the April and March mixes available for download on their soundcloud page.
