For some time now Bibio‘s oeuvre is something I’ve come to rely on to soothe the nerves after a heavy night. I started writing something about Bibio in July and it has been sitting in the draft posts of the blog since then, so perfect timing now, as he’s just announced a new album, on Warp on 4 April, titled Mind Bokeh.

His name is Steven Wilkinson and he comes from the West Midlands; rather more down-to-earth a location than his music suggests. 2009′s Ambivalence Avenue was full of dreamy sunday afternoons and the best bits of that seem to have survived the journey into the new album, Steven’s sixth, with a more coherent pop presence. Very exciting.
