Paranormal Symphonies

Time has flown since we were admiring Raz Ohara & The Odd Orchestra’s Miracle. Now, Patrick Rasmussen has taken another step into the realm of leftfield electronica as Omurah. The first track under this new guise was Colefire, which featured on the Get Physical Full Body Workout Vol. 4 compilation in 2008.

Now, his first official release as Omurah goes by the name Paranormal Symphonies. A-side, Die Hochzeit (or ‘Wedding’), is described as ‘a deep and hypnotic fusion of slow-house tempo and analogue transformation’; post-rock. But it was the title track and b-side that caught my attention. Paranormal Symphony combines twisted melodies and percussive house beats beautifully, and the remixes come from two young Berliners, Nu and Christopher Schwarzwälder, who give it that tech-house tint on the one hand and Balearic ambience on the other. Paranormal Symphony was released last week exclusively via Beatport on the Kindisch label.

Twenty excellent minutes of Raz Ohara live can be sampled here. Enjoy!
