It being the first weekend of the month, there’s a number of options for your perusal this weekend.

It’s the second Bang the Box night at XOYO tomorrow, and it’s the turn of Night Slugs to provide the music, bringing Bok Bok, L-Vis 1990 and Egyptrixx to a sweaty east London hangout. Dollop host their third party in the Citipost Warehouse tonight, and Potty Mouth Disco bring their party to a new Hoxton Basement venue at 12 – 18 Hoxton Square, with Sei A and Tape to Tape.

Tomorrow it’s the Queen of Hoxton’s 2nd Birthday, with a rare live appearance from disco legends Odyssey. We’ve got two guest list tickets to give away, email [email protected] and the earliest birds will receive an email from the Queen of Hoxton.

Ewer Street car park sees some action with 20 years of Planet E, with Carl Craig, Radio Slave and Francois K, Seth Troxler‘s at Fabric for Visionquest, Ben Watt and Prins Thomas head to Cable for Buzzin Fly, Ewan Pearson‘s at Corsica Studios for Trouble Vision, and Theo Parrish plays Plastic People. Woody’s Roundup

(Art) School’s out for the summer, so this week it’s all about the student degree shows. Get yourselves down to Wimbledon, the RA Schools, Camberwell, Central Saint Martins, the RCA and Chelsea College because the work is truly amazing, and well worth the time. On the art theme, the legendary Bold Tendencies sculpture project (and Frank’s Campari Bar) opens next wednesday 30 June on the top 3 floors of Peckham multi-story car park in Rye Lane, hosting an unparalleled view of not only the city itself, but a showcase of beautiful site-specific sculpture.

Student shows means student afterparties, so one for tonight is the Chelsea 10 Degree Show Afterparty at The City Arts and Music Project (C.A.M.P). Entrance is free, and music is provided by Oneman, Deadboy and DELS. Also East, Time Out‘s Live ‘Nite Sessions‘ are at East Village, with Riva Starr, Hannah Holland and SBTRKT. Tomorrow Joy Orbison and Floating Points play Plan B in Brixton, Legendary Children are at Questionmark Bar in Stoke Newington, and Fabric host Radio Slave.

Some tracks for this week? Why not.
Voltage – All Night (Azari & III Remix). We just can’t ignore this – it’s a collaboration between Dan Whitford from Cut Copy and Nile Delta from Riot In Belgium. And of course, Azari & III on the remix.
La Bionda – I Got Your Number
Zero 7 – Ghost Symbol (Julio Bashmore Remix)
SunnyBeach HappySlap MardiGras – Conta (Momma’s Boy Remix)
Riton – Banana Song
New Mjondalen Disco Swingers – Eurodans
Mugwump – The Congregation of Discalced Clerks
Here they are all zipped up tight: Woody XIV

Definitely worth your hard-earned cash this week is the new Rodion For Ever EP, fresh out on Gomma. Check the Timelords-style rolling beats on Hold On Rodion featuring vocals from Jeppe Kjellberg of WhoMadeWho, and Alagoas Cowboys has been bouncing around tracklists for the last couple of months. Very nice!

What makes your Body Pop?

Recently I had to take what should have been an incredibly tedious train from London to Edinburgh. Five hours of staring out of the window at the East coast of England, up through the ‘real’ North and into the Scottish capital. Yet it flew by, thanks to a man named Neil Barber; better known as Nelski.

Nelski has been around on the underground scene for some time now as one half of production duo Rhythm Code, who released tracks on labels such as Size, Baroque, Cubism and Killawatt. I picked up his April mix after catching his latest release Body Pop on Heidi’s Radio 1 show.

Better late than never, this mix is fantastic. Nelski’s used his time wisely here, with favourites from Woody’s Roundup like 1999, Hey Hey, Beachball and the lovely Two Dots scattered tastefully across a jumping 2 ½ hour mix of House and Tech. There are countless hidden gems in here. Nelski, can you please hit us with a tracklist!?

At One With Nelski Mix – April 2010

Body Pop was released on 1st May by Rising Music. If you’ve had a taste of the original it will come as no surprise to you, with that piano and those vocals, that official remixes are available from the mighty Radio Slave and man of the moment Made to Play boss, Jesse Rose.

As if that wasn’t enough Nelski for now, we got in touch with him and he dug out this little mash-up of Adam Freeland & Brett Johnson: We Want Your Gypsy Blue. You can download it from his SoundCloud page here.
